Star Trek: Phase II was a proposed series for the undeveloped Paramount Network (the network appeared later as the United Paramount Network or UPN) The pilot was developed into Star Trek: The Motion Picture. It would've featured the original cast, except for Spock. He was to be replaced by a young Vulcan male who was open to exploring his emotions. Some set pieces ended up on Star Trek: The Next Generation. TNG's second season premier episode "The Child" was a reuse of a Phase II script.
