Space Exploration refers to the exploration of outer space using both manned and unmanned spacecraft.

The first man-made object to be launched into outer space was Sputnik 1, an unmanned Russian craft launched on October 5, 1957.

The first man in space was Russian, Yuri Gagarin aboard the Vostok in 1961.

The first spacewalk was completed by Alexei Leonov in 1965.
