Space: Above and Beyond is a short-lived 1995 series created by Glen Morgan and James Wong for FOX. Set in the year 2063, the series centered on US marines on the spacecraft USS Saratoga as they fought against alien invaders. An expensive production, the series was planned for several seasons but was canceled after its first. The show was reaired to better ratings on the Sci Fi Channel. It's lack of success on Fox was blamed on poor marketing and time slot changes.

Plot

The series was influenced by the Joe Haldeman novel, The Forever War. As humans begin to colonize other planets, they suddenly find themselves attacked by a species known as the Chiggs who destroy the first colony. Young and untested, the 58th unit is sent to confront the alien invaders.
