Specialist Socinus is a fictional character on the series Battlestar Galactica portrayed by Alonso Oyarzun. Socinus is a deckhand on Galactica under the command of Chief Galen Tyrol. Socinus is a native Aerolon. At the time of the Cylon attacks on the Twelve Colonies, he was working Galactica helping prepare the ship for its decommissioning ceremony.

Socinus was one of several deckhands aware of the illicit relationship between Tyrol and Sharon Valerii. His attempt to cover for Tyrol following a cylon bombing on Galactica led to his being charged with conspiracy and collusion with a Cylon agent. Socinus claimed to have left open a hatch combing to causeway C and the arms locker accidentally. Though Tyrol's admission of responsibility for the incident should have cleared Socinus, he was still imprisoned for lying to the tribunal conducting an investigation into the incident.

Socinus was later released on parole and joined the first scouting party to Kobol. When their Raptor was downed, he suffered severe smoke inhalation. He was treated with serisone but his injuries eventually proved to severe for rudimentary medicine to overcome. Tyrol gave him an overdose of morpha which killed him, in order to spare him a slow and painful death.
