Skaara is a fictional character from the movie Stargate and the series Stargate SG-1. He is played by Alexis Cruz in the movie and series and is one of only two actors to reprise their film role in the series. He is a human from Abydos, a planet with cultural similarities to the ancient Egyptians, their ancestors. Skaara is Kasuf's son and the brother of Sha're, Daniel Jackson's wife.

Stargate Movie

Skaara is one of several teenaged boys who witness the arrival of Jack O'Neill and his team on Abydos. The Abydonians at first believe they have been sent by the gods since they came through the stargate and have powerful weapons. O'Neill convinces them otherwise and forms an immediate bond with Skaara who reminds him of his son Charlie, whom he'd recently lost.

Ra, an evil alien posing as a god enslaved the Abydonian people and they lived in fear of his intimidating Jaffa. When O'Neill and Daniel are captured by Ra, the Abydonians are called to witness their execution. Skaara uses their weapons to free them and Skaara and his friends help O'Neill fight against Ra.

Stargate SG-1

A year later, in "Children of the Gods," he is kidnaped by Apophis and taken to the planet Chulak where he is implanted with the Goa'uld symbiote Klorel, Apophis's son.

In the episode "Within the Serpent's Grasp", Apophis plans an attack on Earth. Klorel is in charge of one Apophis' Ha'tak vessels. SG-1 gates aboard the ship and Jack and Teal'c confront Klorel who refuses to allow Skaara to speak with them. They zat him and escape but are soon captured. Klorel presents them to Apophis who demands their execution. Skaara exerts his will and Klorel is swayed from executing them immediately. When Jack and Teal'c are rescued Klorel is shot and Bra'tac places him in the sarcophagus, saving his life. SG-1 and Bratac successfuly sabotage Klorels ship, and both Apophis and Klorel's ships are destroyed. Klorel and Apophis manage to escape.

Two years later, in the episode "Pretense", Skaara crash lands on the planet Tollana. While Klorel is injured, Skaara has an opportunity to plead with the Tollans for help. A trial is called to determine who has the right to the body. Jack and Daniel visit Tollana to speak on behalf of Skaara. Zipacna pleads the case of Klorel. Lya, of The Nox is also brought in as an impartial judge. The trial is decided in favor of Skaara and the goa'uld symbiote is removed from his body. Skaara returns to Abydos.

Almost three years later, in the episode "Full Circle," SG-1 returns to Abydos in search of the "Eye of Ra. Anubis also arrives in search of the relic. SG-1 helps the Abydonians defend themselves against the first attack while Daniel attempts to stop Anubis from destroying the planet. Skaara is shot and killed and SG-1 witnesses his Ascension. Daniel is prevented from interfering and Abydos is destroyed as SG-1 returns to Earth. SG-1 returns to Abydos and discovers the entire population has been ascended by Oma Desala. When they leave, the gate and the civilization, an illusion for their benefit, disappears.
