Six-String Samurai is an alternate history post-apocalyptic martial arts rock and roll movie.

"They say you can kill 200 men and play a mean six-string at the same time."

In 1957, the Soviets carried out an atomic attack on the United States. The civilization was largely destroyed, with the last bastion of American culture being in Las Vegas, Nevada. Elvis Presley is literally the king.

The movie begins forty years later in 1997. Elvis has died, and warriors are traveling from across the country to succeed him.

Spoiler Warning: Plot details and/or information about the ending follow. If you wish to enjoy the work first, stop reading here and return at another time.

Plot

In a scene reminiscent of Planet of the Apes, a rustically dressed child and woman are being pursued through tall grass. The mother is killed by a simple weapon. A stranger appears, dressed like Buddy Holly, even down to thick black glasses (taped together at the nose bridge). Drawing a samurai sword, he defeats the pursuers.

Despite "Buddy's" efforts to dissuade him, the child follows him.

The movie chronicles their journey, as they are attacked by a variety of idiosyncratic groups, somewhat like the gang movie, The Warriors. From a group of primitive cave men types to space-suited windmill people to a sitcom family that tries to cook and eat the child, Buddy is able to defeat them all.

"If I were you, I'd run."
"If you were me, you'd be good looking."
--Buddy, responding to a windmill man

Much interest is expressed in his vintage six-string guitar. It's a valuable artifact.

Pursuing Buddy is Death and his three henchmen. We can not see Death's face, and although they kill everything they choose to kill, we don't see anything supernatural during the pursuit.

Through a series of misadventures, and despite Buddy's best attempts to stay independent, the kid and he bond. Buddy is still trying to get to Vegas to become the king.

After Buddy defeats a Soviet military squad (who have no bullets left), Death eventually catches up him. They fight, both with swords and in a guitar duel. When the kid runs after Buddy to help him, Buddy turns towards him. Shot in the back by arrows, Buddy dies. The kid spits on Death, and Death's hand sizzles. The kid realizes water is Death's enemy, and he sprays water on the top-hatted demon. Death's face has changed to a skull and back again, showing that he is in fact supernatural. The water destroys him.

In the last scene, we see the kid, now dressed like Buddy, walking towards an Emerald City-like Las Vegas.

It's usually best to give a very general overview to a story first, then plot details. When including the plot or essential details in your article (which could ruin the pleasure of discovery for some readers), it is important to include the spoiler tag before any give-away material.
