Sitcoms)
A sitcom (situation comedy) makes use of the interactions of continuing characters in a particular setting in a variety of independent stories.
Traditionally, each episode would have a beginning, middle and end to its plot. While there might be some evolution over time (new characters being introduced, characters leaving, even a change of setting), it would not be necessary to watch the episodes in any particular sequence to understand the show.
Some sitcoms used two-parters. In a more recent development, sitcoms have utilized story arcs and serial story-telling, blending the format with soap opera techniques.
Some of the most famous sitcoms have been Sci Fi shows, such as The Addams Family, [[Bewitched]], and I Dream of Jeannie.
Now primarily associated with television, Old Time Radio also had many sitcoms.
