Sissy Spacek (b. December 25, 1949, Quitman, Texas) is an Academy Award-winning American actress. Known for her dramatic performances, Spacek has been nominated for the Oscar six times, first for her role in Stephen King's Carrie in 1976 and later for performances in Coal Miner's Daughter (1980), which she won, Missing (1982), The River (1984), Crimes of the Heart (1986), and In the Bedroom (2001). Spacek's genre roles have been few but she was nominated for Saturn Awards for her supporting performances in Blast from the Past and Tuck Everlasting. In 2005 she returned to horror appearing in An American Haunting alongside Donald Sutherland.
