Sidney Sheldon (b. February 11, 1917 – January 30, 2007) is an Academy Award-winning American writer, and producer born Sidney Schechtel in Chicago, Illinois. In addition to his popular novels, Sheldon is also credited as the creator of the comedy series I Dream of Jeannie. Among his other well known work are the series Hart to Hart and The Patty Duke Show. Sheldon won an Oscar in 1948 for Best Writing, Original Screenplay for the comedy The Bachelor and the Bobby-Soxer.
