Showtime is an American premium cable network that primarily airs feature films. Like HBO, Showtime has also become known for its original series some of which have included Weeds, Stargate SG-1, Odyssey 5, Masters of Horror, Jeremiah, and Dead Like Me. Showtime was originally a holding of media conglomerate Viacom and began airing locally in Dublin , California on July 1, 1976. It expanded to national airings on March 7, 1978.

Showtime Networks, which owns the Showtime Channel is comprised of several multiplex channels; Showtime, Showtime Too, Showtime Showcase, Showtime Extreme, Showtime Beyond, Showtime Next, Showtime Family Zone, and Showtime Women. The network also owns The Movie Channel, The Movie Channel Xtra, Flix and the Sundance Channel. The Showtime Network is a subsidiary of the CBS Corporation.
