Shore Leave is a fan-run convention that is held annually in July just north of Baltimore, Maryland. Shore Leave is a three-day media convention that focuses on science fiction. Established in 1978, it features multiple tracks of events, including talks by media personalities associated with popular science fiction shows and movies, science lectures, discussion panels, a masquerade (which is a costume contest), an art show and auction, author readings and talks, autograph sessions, photo ops, workshops, theater events, and other special activities.
