Shawn Robert Ashmore (b. October 7, 1979, Richmond, British Columbia, Canada) is a Canadian actor born to homemaker Linda and husband Rick Ashmore. Ashmore was born moments after identical twin brother Aaron Ashmore, also an actor. The twins grew up acting, playing twins in movies. Shawn first gained significant genre notice as one of the Animorphs, and became famous for his role as Iceman in the film adaptation of the comics superhero team, X-Men and its sequels X2 and X-Men: Last Stand. He gained critical notice for his performance at 14 in the 1994 movie Guitarman which saw him nominated for a Gemini award. It was the beginning of a notable career. While taller and more muscular brother often plays bullies, Aaron typically plays nice-guy roles such as his role as Ged in the Si Fi Channel miniseries Legend of Earthsea.

Ashmore has also appeared on several television series. He made his genre debut on an episode of The Ray Bradbury Theater in 1992. His other genre appearances include Earth: Final Conflict, a recurring role on the Canadian series TV Series, The Outer Limits, Smallville, and the movies Wolf Girl Solstice and The Ruins.
