Lt. Sharon "Boomer" Valerii (Boomer) (played by Grace Park), on The SCI FI Channel TV series Battlestar Galactica, was a Raptor pilot serving on Galactica. Not long out of flight school, she was the squadron's rookie. She was romantically involved with Chief Tyrol before discovering she was a Cylon sleeper agent. She was devastated to realize all her memories were lies. In addition to the Sharon on Galactica, there are many others known as Cylon model Number Eight.

Spoiler Warning: Plot details and/or information about the ending follow. If you wish to enjoy the work first, stop reading here and return at another time.

While a sleeper agent, Sharon unwittingly perpetrated acts of sabotage which made her confused and led to her suspicion of her true nature. Her nature was no longer in doubt when she encountered several other Number 8 models on a Cylon base star. After returning from the missio to destroy the base star, she suddenly shot Adama in the chest, fulfilling her programming but stunned at her own actions. Sharon was imprisoned but not long after, she was shot and killed by Cally. Her consciousness was downloaded into a new body but ever since she has had difficulty accepting who and what she is. She has memories of a life and friends but none of it was real.

Sharon worked with Caprica Six to change the direction of Cylon society. They hoped to integrate human and Cylon lives and goals. Their work led them to the occupation of New Caprica which proved a devastating failure for humans and Cylons. Following the occupation, Sharon realizing the failure of New Caprica abandons any hope for a peaceful coexistence with humans.

Sharon was responsible for the care of Hera, the daughter of her counterpart, Sharon "Athena" Agathon, but failed to make any real connection to the child even threatening to kill her in the presence of her mother. Boomer was killed by Number Six before she could harm Hera.

In season 4, Boomer shocked her fellow Cylons by voting against her model in a decision regarding whether the Raiders should be lobotomized in order for them to continue attacking the fleet despite the revelation that the final five Cylons were among the humans. Boomer sided with Cavil and Simon to lobotomize the raiders while the rest of the eights voted with the sixes. Her decision was a first among the Cylons.

Notes

  • This Sharon is the first seen in the series, known as "Boomer". She is occasionally referred to as Galactica Sharon, a term now defunct as Sharon Agathon is currently the Sharon living on Galactica.
  • It is worth noting that as a known Cylon and one who's never been a sleeper agent, Sharon Agathon has the life "Boomer" was forced to abandon.
  • Boomer's acts of sabotage on board Galactica include sabotaging Galactica's water tanks in "Water". It is also likely that she helped an Aaron Doral copy gain access to the munitions store.
