Sharon Vonne Stone (b. March 10, 1958 in Meadville, Pennsylvania) is an American actress born to a factory worker and a homework and raised with three siblings in Pennsylvania. Stone attended Saegertown High School, and at fifteen entered Edinboro State University of Pennsylvania where she earned her degree in creative writing and fine arts. At 17 she entered and won a Miss Pennsylvania beauty contest and went from working at McDonalds to modeling for the Ford Model Agency in print and television ads.
Stone made her debut in Woody Allen's Stardust Memories in 1980 and landed her first speaking part in Wes Craven's Deadly Blessing. Several minor film and television roles followed building her resume and popularity including the film King Solomon's Mines, Police Academy 4: Citizens on Patrol, Allan Quatermain and the Lost City of Gold, Action Jackson, Badlands 2005, Beyond the Stars and Total Recall. Her breakout role was unquestionably Basic Instinct opposite Michael Douglas. She followed up with roles in Last Action Hero, an Oscar nominated turn in Casino and Diabolique. Other notable films include the scifi thriller Sphere, voice roles in Antz, and Happily Ever After: Fairy Tales for Every Child, Picking Up the Pieces, Cold Creek Manor, Catwoman, Basic Instinct 2 and Bobby.
