on the series Battlestar Galactica, Sharon "Athena" Agathon is a humanoid Cylon, model Number Eight, portrayed by Grace Park. Sharon first appeared on Caprica where Helo came across her while trying to elude the Cylons. She was assigned to impersonate Sharon Valerii and seduce Helo in a Cylon cross-breeding experiment. The two fell in love and Sharon revealed her true nature as a Cylon and the fact that she had become pregnant. She helped Kara Thrace and Helo escape Caprica and return to Galactica where she was immediately imprisoned. Sharon provided intelligence and even saved Galactica after a Cylon virus disabled the ship. Sharon also led Roslin's team to the discovery of the Tomb of Athena and in the process proved herself trustworthy.
Sharon was abused and almost raped by an officer from the Battlestar Pegasus. She was rescued by Chief Galen Tyrol and Helo. She later gave birth to a daughter, Hera. Shortly after the birth, she was led to believe the child had died, on President Roslin's orders. Sharon was devastated.
She remained on board Galactica during the fleet's settling of New Caprica. She and Helo married and following the Cylon occupation she was sworn in as a Colonial officer. She adopted the call sign "Athena" making it clear she was not Boomer. Sharon led the rescue of the colonial population from New Caprica where she was informed by Number Three that her daughter was still alive. She rejected the idea, but later questioned Chief Tyrol about witnessing her daughter's ashes and he confirmed he had.
When Galactica and a Cylon base star faced off above the Algae Planet in "The Eye of Jupiter", the Number Eight model known as Boomer, boarded the Galactica and informed Athena that her daughter was still alive on the nearby ship. Determined to see and retrieve her daughter, Athena convinced Helo to shoot and kill her so that she would be downloaded into a new body on the Cylon ship. She retrieved Hera after a nasty run-in with Boomer, whose frustration and anger caused her to threaten Hera's life. Hera recognized her mother who immediately realized her daughter was ill with an intestinal blockage. With the help of Caprica Six, she managed to escape the base star with her baby and return to Galactica.
