Spirited Away is a 2001 Academy Award–winning anime film from writer and director Hayao Miyazaki. The Japanese title of the film is Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi, which translates as The Spiriting Away of Sen and Chihiro. The film opened in US theaters on April 20, 2002, and won the 2003 Oscar for Best Animated Feature, among several other awards, including the Saturn Award for Best Animated Film. The script was also nominated for an Audience Award from the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America.
