Sean Astin

Sean Astin (b. February 25, 1971 in Santa Monica, California is an American actor, producer and director. He is the son of The Addams Family actor, John Astin and Patty Duke. Astin is the the first child born to both his parents but he has three elder brothers from his father's first marriage. His brother, Mackenzie Astin is also an actor.

Astin began acting at age nine appearing in the 1981 TV movie Please Don't Hit Me, Mom. His first genre appearance was in the film Goonies. Most fans remember Astin from the Lord of the Rings trilogy in which he played Frodo's best friend, Sam. He also appeared in the drama series Jeremiah.

Astin's directing credits include an episode of Angel, "Soulless" and episodes of Jeremiah and Perversions of Science
