SG-2 was one of the first two SG teams formed in the pilot episode of Stargate SG-1. The team was originally led by Major Charles Kawalsky with Maj. Louis Ferretti as his second in command. When Kawalsky was killed after being infested by a goa'uld, Ferretti took over as team leader.

SG-2, led by Ferretti, was sent to retrieve SG-1 after they disobeyed orders and went through the gate in hope of preventing what they believed would be an attack on Earth by Apophis. The mission was scrapped when the gate failed to connect to the address.

Team Members

• Louis Ferretti was the second team commander, Ferretti was a member of the original team that visited Abydos in the movie.
• Major Coburn replaced Ferretti as head of SG-2 and was first seen in "Maternal Instinct" where he defended the stargate against Apophis' Jaffa
• Casey — Casey was injured on his return from Chulak in " Children of the Gods, Part 2".
• Captain Griff first appeared in the episode "The First Ones". Griff commanded SG-2 in the episode "Prodigy". He was later promoted to Major.
• Major Pierce was first seen in "The First Ones" where he participated in the rescue of Daniel Jackson. He was promoted to Colonel and put in charge of the new Alpha Site.
• Warren was an original member of SG-2 and traveled to Chulak under Kawalsky's command.
