Children of the Damned opens in U.S. theaters (1963). This sequel to the 1960 film Village of the Damned once again focuses on a group of children with psi-powers. Anton M. Leader directs the film, which stars Ian Hendry, Alan Badel, Barbara Ferris, and Alfred Burke.
Katharine Ross is born (1943). Oscar-nominated actor Katharine played Joanna Eberhart, a part-time photographer and full-time homemaker who lives in mortal fear of becoming a suburban automaton in the popular 1975 big-screen adaptation of Ira Levin's best-selling novel, The Stepford Wives. She also starred as an unsuspecting woman destined to inherit an occult curse in the grisly The Legacy (1979). Katharine's other genre projects include Reel Horror (1985), The Final Countdown (1980), Irwin Allen's The Swarm (1978), and the psychological thriller Games (1967). She also appeared in a 1963 episode of The Alfred Hitchcock Hour titled "The Dividing Wall." Katharine was born in Hollywood, California.
Heather Graham is born (1970). This fresh-faced Hollywood starlet starred as Felicity Shagwell in Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me (1999) and as Judy Robinson in the 1998 big-screen adaptation of the classically campy SF series Lost in Space. Heather also played one of the nubile victims in Wes Craven's Scream 2 (1997). Some of her less notable credits include Alien Love Triangle (2000), and an appearance on the 1998 pilot episode of the resurrected Fantasy Island TV series. Her television credits include David Lynch's Twin Peaks series and a 1996 episode of The Outer Limits titled "Resurrection." Heather was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
