What is SCIFIPEDIA?
SCIFIPEDIA is a wiki devoted to all things genre-related: science fiction, fantasy, and horror subjects related to print literature (books, comics, magazines) and media (movies, TV, games) as well as related subjects of interest including UFOs, ETs, and the paranormal.
What is SCIFIPEDIA not?
There are some things that SCIFIPEDIA is NOT. SCIFIPEDIA is not a place to create collaborative fanfic. SCIFIPEDIA is not a place to pitch ideas to The SCI FI Channel. SCIFIPEDIA is not a place to post speculative articles. SCIFIPEDIA is not a dictionary. SCIEFIPEDIA is not an indiscriminate colleector of information. SCIFIPEDIA is not a fan club or a host for arguments and squabbles.
What is a Wiki?
A wiki is a website devoted to a specific (or very general) subject where the content on the site is generated through collaborative efforts by anyone who wishes to contribute information and effort toward a common goal. In the case of SCIFIPEDIA, the common goal is a centralized accumulation of knowledge about all things relating to the genres of the fantastic in all its forms.
What is Media Wiki?
MediaWiki is a software program developed to accommodate the collaborative creation process on a wiki website. The best-known wiki which uses MediaWiki is the Wikipedia, which is a general encyclopedia.
What browsers are supported on SCIFIPEDIA?
On the PC: Internet Explorer, Mozilla (Firefox and Netscape), and Opera.
On the Mac: Mozilla (Firefox and Netscape) and Safari. However, due to a software issue, spell checking of an article draft is not supported under Safari.
Internet Explorer for the Mac is not supported on SCIFIPEDIA.
