General Business

Is there anybody out there? Feedback is the one thing I'm counting on the most to feed this hungry little puppy. The questions and complaints that come in should trigger lots of things for me to say here so it's up to all of you to help me make this something useful and informative. Please do your bit and I'll keep doing mine.

Formatting

Piping. I've done a lot of piping in the last few days because I hadn't learned it properly when I started putting in articles. Remember and use piping so other people will be able to find what you've written.

Internal links. There are times now when you'll be looking at an article and it will be a sea of red. That means that there are lots of links to things that don't exist yet. I read on the Wikipedia site that they advocate a judicious and considered use of internal linking. I think once we've got a few tens of thousands of entries we might start saying that, too, but until then I'm putting in lots of links to stuff I know isn't there. For one thing, it's an invitation to create an article and for another it's a good way to simply remember that something needs to be done – and there's lots that needs to be done.

Today's shout-out

Paula M. Probably our most knowledgeable wiki user and our most enthusiastic, so far, volunteer contributor. 25 entries last weekend, she says. Also, a networking maven of the highest order, plus she has the most charming gurgle of a laugh which we hear often on our conference calls.

Thought for the day

Scrambling to get something going is the wave of the present. Glitches are nature's way oif reminding you that you're not perfect, partticularly in first draft.
