General Business
Am I deluding myself when I begin to think that I'll actually be able to do this Journaling thing? I have enough ideas to keep me going for a while and I've come up with a structure that should help keep generating more.
As always, I'll stick rigidly to the plan until somewhere (probably early) on the first day when all hell breaks loose and the wheels come off and then improvise as if my life depends on it, which it may well do. It should be fun for all you folks who come by to watch the show. Please do keep coming back to see if I can keep all the plates spinning on their tiny poles.
It's easy to create a link, just enclose a word or a phrase or whatever in double square brackets. The trick is, though, that unless what you're linking has already been written, you're probably going to feel an obligation, once you've saved the Article you're working on, to follow that red link (red means there's nothing there yet) and at least start that Article so there'll be something there for people to read.
The other trick is that if something already does exist that you want to link to, you have to be very careful to make certain that what you enclose in those brackets is 'exactly the same as the Article title for what already exists. Otherwise, we'll end up with a forest of red links leading to nothing rather than a closely connected web of blue links that remind us of what message I mentioned before: everything is connected. At least, that's what we're trying to accomplish.
Today's shout-out
John Wetsell. A voice of calm and reason when the technical glitches are flying thick and fast. A terrific problem-solver and a very funny fellow when he let's himself speak out freely. Dry and very sharp, that wit. Some major logjams on our wiki way got broken up by his deft programming.
Thought for the day
First we'll get a thousand Articles up on SCIFIPEDIA. We're almost there. Then, all we have to do is multiply that number by itself and…. It shouldn't take very long if you pitch in and help.
