Flash Gordon

In 1934, in the wake of Buck Rogers' success, a new science fiction superhero sprang into action. The Flash Gordon comic strip appeared in the daily newspapers, leading the forces of Earth against evil machinations of Emperor Ming of the planet Mongo.

The comic strip begat a famous movie serial that launched in 1936, starring Buster Crabbe as Flash Gordon. But there was more Flash in store, from television's The New Animated Adventures of Flash Gordon in 1979 to the cult classic movie of 1980, scored by the rock band Queen.
