Launch date! Welcome one and all. We've done everything we can to make SCIFIPEDIA ready for the world. Come on in, check us out. Read an Article. Read our FAQ and our Tutorial and our Terms of Service. Edit an Article. Write a new article either by following a red link (Red means that there's an empty Article waiting for you to fill it up with facts and information.) or by clicking on the "Start An Article" button on the left side of the page. There's lots to look at and lots to learn and lots and lots of blanks spaces to fill and things that we want to have here that aren't done yet and we need all of you to pitch in and make this a great place to find information and to spend time.
Formatting
Blank spaces. You'd think a blank space would not be a big deal but it can be depending on where it's placed. IF a line starts with a space THEN it will be formatted exactly as typed; in a fixed-width font and lines will not wrap. If you start a line with a space and type a wide block of text, the whole page will be forced to be wide which will be bad for readers with low resolution monitors. We don't like to say "Never" but you should never start ordinary lines with spaces.
So:
Watch out for the opening blank space.
produces:
Watch out for the opening blank space.
But:
Watch out for the opening blank space.
produces:
Watch out for the opening blank space.
That's quite a difference that one blank space can make!
Today's shout-out
Chris N. Our first repeater, for overcoming Internet Explorer's foibles when it comes to forms. Without him, many of our potential visitors would be tearing their hair and deciding to try another website.
