General Business
I'm putting out a call for specific attention to the dates of things listed in SCIFIPEDIA. The Mediawiki software is set up to collate and organize information linked to, among many other things, dates. That includes both by year and by month and day. I've been less than complete about linking all dates in all entries so please keep your eyes peeled as you browse through the site and jump in and add a link where none yet exists by using those double square brackets, one set each for years and for month and day, which should be in the form "April 16" (Month, full spelling and capitalized, followed by the numeral for the day of the month). The next step in the process is that the dates that are linked need at least a stub Article to get them started with all that useful indexing we'd love to be able to use so please follow a red link and create an Article for a date or a year and I'm sure we'll start to find some interesting coincidences popping up. One of our hard-working staffers has created beginning entries for all the years from 1828 through 2006 but there's lots left to do.
Formatting
What else but a date entry? See General Discussion immediately above.
Format:
A non-ordered list bullet ( * ) with date in bold, followed by a dash, unbold, then the entry. A line above and below make a nice-looking format, too.
So:
----
*'''April 16''' – Here is a listing for events concerning SCIFIPEDIA subjects for the date April 16.
----
will produce:
- April 16 – Here is a listing for events concerning SCIFIPEDIA subjects for the date April 16.
Today's shout-out
Anne N. A third helpful lawyer in a row. More sense about trademarks than I had any right to expect. What can I say except thanks to all? You've restored my faith in the profession. No more of those jokes, ever.
Thought for the day
There's lots of legal talk linked on the bottom of every page of SCIFIPEDIA – but the fact that's it's everywhere doesn't mean that you can get away with "not" reading it at least once. You might learn something important and you'll probably save the administrators of the site some time and avoid some problems down the road.
