General Business
Now that the site is up and running, the effort to get about a thousand sample articles in place seems pretty modest compared to the ambitions we're setting ourselves for what we want to come into existence here. There are more than a thousand genre books published every year and thousands of shorter stories. There are probably at least half-a-dozen genre-tinged TV series that have been broadcast in each of the last twenty years or more (on average, at least) and another half-dozen genre films (in the slow years). With multiple episodes in each series, many characters in each novel, imaginary worlds, alien species, types of spaceship, and so on, we could easily end up with tens of thousands of articles once the ball really gets rolling.
There are entire subject areas on the site that are, so far, barely notions about what will come along to fill them. I had a hard time finding a writer to create some material for the ETs and UFOs category and for the Paranormal. There are a mere handful of articles about Anime and Comics.
The message is clear for anybody out there who is reading this. We need help and contributions and we need them from everybody who is interested in any of the subject areas that fall under the very general banner that is SCI FI. I'm not about to try for a definition here. I'll leave that to someone who has a more academic turn of mind and a lot of patience for the disagreements that will inevitably arise from the many folks who don't feel that someone else's definition of the genre can possibly encompass all that they envision the genre as being about. Let's just say that there's room for everybody and we hope you'll all try to get along rather than spending your time arguing at cross purposes.

To create a horizontal line, type four dashes (----)

To make a bulleted list: Put an asterisk * in front of every item. Thus:
*Able

Today's shout-out
Falon W. Matthew C. may have had the vision but Falon W. is the one who executed the vision and made the design work. There are a zillion (conservative estimate) components that had to be included on the Main Page and Falon pulled it off in fine style, gave everything the space and prominence it needed and made it all look really spiffy.

Defining SCI FI = Herding Cats (Challenging in the extreme and possibly unrewarding even when you think you have succeeded.)
