Rupert Grint (b. August 24 , 1988 in Watton-at-Stone, Hertfordshire, England) is a British actor best known for his role as Ron Weasley in the Harry Potter films. Grint is the eldest of five children born to Nigel Grint and Jo Parsons. Prior to his appearance in the first Harry Potter film, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone Grint had only appeared in school plays and local theater group productions.

Grint was a fan of the novel series which led to his auditioning for the role of Ronald Weasley. He has also appeared in the subsequent films Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (2002), Harry Potter and the Prisoner Azkaban (2004), Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire and Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. He is slated to appear in the final films in the series Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (2008) and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (2010).

In addition to his work on the Harry Potter films, he has appeared in Thunderpants, and lent his voice to the BBC Radio series Baggy Trousers and the BBC Documentary Happy Birthday, Peter Pan. In 2006, he appeared as Ben Marshall in the film Driving Lessons alongside Julie Walters.
