Rosario Dawson

Rosario Dawson (May 9, 1979, New York City, New York) is an American actress of Puerto Rican, Cuban, Irish, black and Native American descent. Dawson grew up in New York with her mother a professional vocalist.

Dawson got her start in entertainment when she was picked off the street to play Ruby in Larry Clark's controversial film, Kids. Dawson followed up her debut with Spike Lee's He Got Game which costarred Denzel Washington and Milla Jovovich. Sticking to New York films, she appeared in Side Streets and Light It Up with Forest Whitaker. She also appeared in Down to You with Julia Stiles and Freddie Prinze Jr. and Josie and the Pussie Cats with Parker Posey and Alan Cumming.

Dawson's breakout role came when Linda Fiorento decide not to appear in the sequel to Men in Black. Dawson took on the role of Laura Vasquez in Men in Black II and followed up with the far less successful The Adventures of Pluto Nash . Despite that small dip, Dawson's career continued to rise. She appeared in Alexander which starred Colin Farrell and Angelina Jolie and several other notable actors and in the Robert Rodriguez screen adaptation of Frank Miller's Sin City. She then appeared in the horror film, The Devi's Rejects the film version of the hit musical Rent as drug addict Mimi Marquez, Kevin Smith's Clerks II, and in 2007 Grindhouse, Descent, and Death Proof.

In 2008, Dawson will appear in Killshot, Poor Things and Eagle Eye and in 2009, Sin City 2.
