Ronny Cox (July 23, 1938) is an American character actor born Daniel Ronald Cox in Cloudcroft, New Mexico. Cox is known for playing authoritative figures and is well know to Stargate SG-1 fans as the underhanded Senator Robert Kinsey. Cox is also a singer songwriter and performs regularly at folk festivals and in small theaters.
Cox began his television career in the early 70s. His breakout role was in the 1972 film Deliverance playing Drew Ballinger. Since then, he has appeared in numerous films and television series. Cox is most proud of his role in the TV Movie A Case of Rape which is credited with helping pass landmark rape legislation. Cox has made several scifi genre appearances in RoboCop, Total Recall, and Star Trek: The Next Generation as Captain Edward Jellico. Other notable appearances include Beverly Hills Cop, Beverly Hills Cop II, and The Jesse Owens Story.
Cox married his high school sweetheart on September 10, 1960. The couple has two children.
