Rogue is a fictional superhero comic book character owned by Marvel Comics. She is most famous for his association with the superhero team, the X-Men. Her super power is to absorb the life energy and psyche of others with skin-to-skin contact. What she absorbs and for how long seems to change depending on how long the contact lasts.
As a teen, Rogue came into her mutant powers. Rogue grew close to a boy named Cody Robbins. During their flirtation, they kiss, and he plunges into a coma from which he does not awaken. Rogue was traumatized by the experience, as she comes to realize that she can never physically touch another human being without terrible consequences.
Rogue ends up running away from home, and is taken in by another mutant, the shape-changing Mystique, who recruits her into the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, a mutant group at times associated with the X-Men’s arch enemy, Magneto. Things get worse for her as she plunges into this life of mutant terrorism, which culminates when she seems to permanently absorb the powers, memories, and very psyche of the hero Ms. Marvel.
At this point, she has trouble sorting her own memories, desires, and impulses from the heroine she has absorbed. This starts affecting her sanity, and she ends up going to Professor X and the X-Men for help. Xavier takes her in, and she has been with the X-Men ever since.
Rogue usually wears gloves and clothing that completely covers her body to minimize the chances of touching someone accidentally. She is easily recognized by her red hair with a large streak of white hair in it.
Rogue has had a long standing relationship with fellow X-Man Gambit, despite issues of frustration and trust stemming from her lack of ability to engage with him in skin-to-skin contact.
While she no longer has Ms. Marvel’s powers, Rogue is now one of the most experienced X-Men, and has sometimes served as field leader.
In the recent X-Men live action movie series, Rogue has been played by actress Anna Paquin.
