Roberto Orci is a Mexican-born, American screenwriter and producer. Together with writing partner Alex Kurtman, the pair have become a hit-making writing team known for quickly turning out great scripts. Orci met Kurtzman in high school and the two immediately began collaborating on scripts. They broke into the industry together working on the action-adventure fantasy series Xena: Warrior Princess and Hercules: The Legendary Journeys.

The two followed up with the spy-fi television series Alias on which they worked with show creator J. J. Abrams. They followed up with the hit film The Legend of Zorro bringing the popular TV hero, portrayed by Antonio Banderas, to the big screen. They also worked on The Island working with director Michael Bay for the first time. The film wasn't much of a hit but their success with Zorro established their industry credibility. In 2006, they worked with Abrams again on the film Mission: Impossible III starring Tom Cruise. Shortly before the film's release, it was announced that Orci, Kurtzman and Abrams would work together on the latest Star Trek film.

In 2007, their second venture with Michael Bay, Transformers proved a big hit leading to a 2009 sequel, Transformers 2 on which the team will reunite. He will also work with Kurtzman on and adaptation of a Whitley Streiber novel to be released in 2010, 2012: The War for Souls. Also in the works is the television drama Fringe which aims for a 2008 debut. In 2009 they will produce Amazon.
