Robert Shaye (b. March 3, 1939 Detroit, Michigan - ) is an American producer, actor, and director. Shaye attended the University of Michigan. Along with Michael Lynne he founded the film production and distribution company, New Line Cinema where he is currently Co-chairman and Co-CEO. Shaye has produced several notable genre films including The Lord of the Rings film trilogy, the A Nightmare on Elm Street film series, and directed the 2007 film, The Last Mimzy.
