Robert Patrick is an American actor familiar to sci-fi fans in the roles of T-1000, an android assassin from the movie Terminator 2: Judgment Day and John Doggett on the TV series The X-Files. He was born on November 5, 1958, in Marietta, Georgia to Robert and Nadine Patrick. He is the oldest of five children. His brother, Richard Patrick, is the lead singer of the band Filter.
His family moved several times while he was growing up and he lived in several cities including Dayton, Cleveland, Detroit, and Boston. While in high school, he played baseball, and after graduating, he attended Bowling Green University, where he played on the football team as a linebacker. He left school before completing his degree, and began painting houses. At age 26, a near-drowning accident gave his life new perspective, and he moved to Los Angeles in 1984 to pursue acting.
His first job was in the play Go, where he was discovered by casting director Roger Corman. His first screen roles were in the films Equalizer 2000, Future Hunters, and Killer Instinct. He played a villain in Die Hard 2 before his big break came in the film Terminator 2: Judgment Day in which he starred opposite Arnold Schwarzenegger as the T-1000 android. The role was an iconic one that made him memorable to sci-fi fans.
He followed up his Terminator success with roles in the films Wayne's World, Fire in the Sky, Double Dragon and a short sequel to Terminator, T2 3-D: Battle Across Time". He also guest- starred on The Outer Limits , Superman: The Animated Series, and The Real Adventures of Johnny Quest.
Several more action roles followed, including Tactical Assault, Ambushed and Renegade Force. He also appeared in The Faculty, From Dusk Till Dawn 2: Texas Blood Money and a Texas Funeral. In 2000 he guest starred on The Sopranos. He also lent his voice to an episode of Batman Beyond and played Mr. Lisp in the movie Spy Kids.
In 2000, he joined the cast of The X-Files as John Doggett. He played the character until the series ended in 2002. He followed up with a role in Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle, Ticker and Pavement. He guest-starred on Stargate Atlantis as Colonel Marshall Sumner and on the series Lost as Hibbs. In 2006 he joined the cast of The Unit.
