Richard Hatch

Richard Hatch (b. May 21, 1945 Santa Monica, California) , who plays Tom Zarek on The SCI FI Channel TV series Battlestar Galactica, is an American actor who has enjoyed international recognition for more than two decades. He has starred in such series as The Streets of San Francisco and the original Battlestar Galactica, for which he was nominated for a Golden Globe Award. These two series continue to play throughout the world today. In addition, Hatch originated the role of Philip Brent on ABC's daytime drama All My Children.

Hatch began his theatrical career with the Los Angeles Repertory Theater. He starred off-Broadway in several plays and musicals, including the Obie Award-winning play P.S., Your Cat Is Dead in Chicago. Most recently, Hatch starred in the musical Pepper Street and The Name Game in Los Angeles.

Hatch has co-written a series of Battlestar Galactica hardcover novels for Byron Preiss Visual Publications. The first book, Battlestar Galactica: Armageddon, was released in July 1997; its first edition sold out in only three weeks. The second book, Battlestar Galactica: Warhawk, was released in September 1998, followed in May 2001 by the third book of the series, Battlestar Galactica: Resurrection. The epic literary odyssey continued with Battlestar Galactica: Rebellion, released in 2002; Battlestar Galactica: Paradise, July 2003; and Battlestar Galactica: Destiny, published in spring of 2005.
