Reggie Nalder (Alfred Reginald Natzick) ( September 4, 1907 – November 19, 1991) was an Austrian-born character actor with distinctive burn scars on his lower face. He entered films in 1949 and was cast by Hitchcock as the cold-blooded assassin in the remake of The Man Who Knew Too Much (1955). After moving to Hollywood in the early 1960s, he began appearing in horror roles, including Dr. Van Helsing (under the alias “Detlef Van Berg”) in the hardcore Dracula Sucks (1979), and the Nosferatu-like vampire Barlow in TV’s 'Salem’s Lot (1979). Nalder was an evil henchman in Mark of the Devil (1970), The Dead Don’t Die (1975), Dracula’s Dog (1977), McCloud: McCloud Meets Dracula (1977) and the Disney comedy The Devil and Max Devlin (1981). He is best remembered by Star Trek fans for his role as “Sharas” in the "Journey to Babel" episode of the original series.
