Ray Walston

<span class="SFPTagline"> From SCIFIPEDIA </span>

Ray Walston (December 2, 1914 New Orleans, Louisiana - January 1, 2001) was an American actor.

Some actors start at the bottom, but Ray Walston had his first big hit below the bottom...as the Satanic Mr. Applegate on stage in Damn Yankees.

He also starred in the 1958 movie adaptation (along with stage-mate Gwen Verdon), and was featured in South Pacific that same year.

In 1963, he would play another fallen character, although one of quite a different type: a crash-landed Martian in My Favorite Martian.

A popular tv guest star, he made appearances on such genre fare as The Six Million Dollar Man, Buck Rogers in the 25th Century, Misfits of Science, and reuniting with his MFM co-star Bill Bixby in The Incredible Hulk.

He entered the Star Trek universe as well, playing both Starfleet Academy groundskeeper Boothby, and an alien pretending to be Boothby on Star Trek: The Next Generation and Star Trek: Voyager.

He brought a cartoon to life as Poopdeck Pappy in the ill-fated Robert Altman/Robin Williams version of Popeye.
