Ralph Bates (February 12, 1940 Bristol, England – March 27, 1991) Likeable British leading man who Hammer Films unsuccessfully tried to promote as a new horror star in the early 1970s. Despite giving solid performances in a number of films, including Taste the Blood of Dracula (1969), The Horror of Frankenstein (1970), Lust for a Vampire (1970) and Dr. Jekyll & Sister Hyde (1971), his movie career quickly floundered and he moved to TV, where he remained until his untimely death.
