Radio is broadcast audio only entertainment.
Originally sent over the airwaves, streaming audio through the Internet is also referred to as radio.
Beginning in the 1920s, radio became the first mass medium to reach into people's homes. Sci Fi was a staple: with the "visual effects" provided by the listener, it was possible to tell really strange stories with dramatic skill and creative use of sound. Until television rose to prominence in the late 1940s and early 1950s, Sci Fi fans could share a personal but communal experience, often in the dark, sitting at home listening to Lights Out, Inner Sanctum, Superman, and more.
These dramas (and comedies) are referred to as Old Time Radio (OTR). In the 2000s, there are still many fans. The Internet has provided a new way to find the old shows.
