Dr. Radek Zelenka is a fictional character on the TV Series Stargate Atlantis played by David Nykl. Zelenka is a brilliant Czech scientist and engineer hand-picked by Dr. Elizabeth Weir to join the expedition to the lost city of Atlantis.
Zelenka is much abused by Dr. Rodney McKay, the expedition's lead scientist who often insults Zelenka and his work even as he depends on his help. Fortunately Zelenka, the more patient and understanding of the two, understands McKay's bluster. Zelenka has proven a dependable asset for the expedition and a lifesaver for McKay on several occasions.
Zelenka is responsible for the creation of a computer virus designed to destroy the Ancient database should the city come under attack and need to be evacuated. He also helped McKay use a puddle jumper's cloaking device to turn the city's shield into a cloak. In "Duet", McKay was forced, much to his dismay, to depend on Zelenka's work to separate Lt. Laura Cadman's mind from his own and return her to her own body.
When McKay became trapped in a sinking puddle jumper, he was forced to rely on his team to save him. It was Zelenka's idea of turning the Puddle Jumper's cloak into a shield that enabled his rescue.
Zelenka worked with McKay in attempt to resurrect the Ancient power generator Project Arcturus. Zelenka's research determined why the project had been abandoned and he attempted to convince McKay that the concept was inherently flawed but McKay was unwilling to listen. Zelenka ultimately proved right and the device exploded, destroying the planet and most of the solar system.

Trivia
- David Nykl was intended to guest star only in "Thirty-eight Minutes". His brilliant performance earned him a recurring role and he appeared in several more episodes.
- The character of Zelenka was intended to be Russian but the writers changed the character to Czech after Nykl won the role.
