Radar Cases involve the detection of apparent UFOs by radar.
While sometimes thought of as less prone to error than visual observations (after all, radar returns won't be confused by the planet Venus), interpretation can be tricky. Temperature inversions can cause radar returns, and there is a traditional term for false radar reports: "angels".
Also, radar and radar operators may only be looking for objects that fall within certain parameters (height, velocity, size, etc.), and could therefore fail to observe unusual objects with unusual characteristics.
A sub-set of radar cases, Radar-Visual cases (aka RV cases) can provide better evidence. In these cases, there is a visual sighting confirmed by radar, or vice versa. Since the information is coming from two different channels, it eliminates some types of errors. However, it can be difficult to confirm that the same thing is being observed, and if so, exactly what it is.
