Race to Mars is a 2007 Canadian documentary-style three-hour science fiction miniseries to be shown in the United States and Canada on The Discovery Channel in fall 2007. The miniseries depicts a human mission to Mars, and is advertised as being as scientifically accurate as it can be. It will be accompanied by a documentary, Mars Rising and a website, Mars Interactive. The Website (http://www.racetomars.ca) contains details about the science, educational articles, and a collection of games/simulations based on the mission.

Plot
Set in the the year 2030, space competing international space agencies are locked in a race to be the first to reach the Mars.
China is leading the way with a technological lead over the United States, which had a long-term plan. Instead China shocks the world when it announces it has landed a series of advanced rovers and robotic landers on Mars.
China's quest to is to make the most important discovery in human history by finding evidence of extraterrestrial life on Mars.
Not to be left out in the cold, the United States and its partner international space agencies are thrust into a 21st century winner-takes-all space race with higher stakes than the race to the Moon in the 1960s.
The international coalition is determined to retake the lead back from China, which is focusing on unmanned, robotic missions. The U.S.-led consortium decides to take the dangerous option of launching a human crew of six from the countries of Canada, France, Japan, Russia and the United States on a death-defying two-year mission.
