R. L. Stine

Robert Lawrence Stine (b. October 8, 1943, Columbus, Ohio) is a prolific American author known for his children's horror novels. His most popular novel series include Goosebumps which became a children's television series, Rotten School, Nightmare Street and Fear Room. Stine has sold over 300 million copies of his work world-wide.
Stine was born to a shipping clerk and a homemaker. He is the oldest of their three children and has always been known to them as "Bob". After discovering a typewriter in the attic at nine, he became fascinated by writing. He attended Ohio State University and after graduation moved to New York City to begin his writing career. He focused on humorous fiction for children. He created Bananas magazine which he worked on for ten years under the name Bob Stine.
Stine married Jane Waldhorn in 1969 and the two started their own publishing company, Parachute Press. The company has published many of his most popular series. He turned to horror in 1986 and published his first novel for teens, Blind Date which proved to be a hit. He followed up with Beach House, Hit and Run and The Girlfriend.
In 1989 Stine made history with the all time best selling young adult book series Fear Street. The series which also includes Fear Street Sagas and Ghosts of Fear Street is made up of more than 100 novels. More hits followed with Goose Bumps, The Nightmare Room, Mostly Ghosty and Beware! .
In addition to his work in children's books, Stine also wrote three thrillers for adults, Superstitious, The Sitter and Eye Candy.
