When it was discovered that some people had telepathic abilities, fear and prejudice put these individuals at risk.

In order to control the situation, the Psi Corps was created. If a telepath is found, they can: join the Corps (and be controlled and protected); go to an internment camp; or take drugs to suppress their abilities.
