Proof Positive: Evidence of the Paranormal was a weekly, hour-long TV series that investigated paranormal phenomena. Each episode of the documentary series featured three stories of supposedly real-life paranormal experiences told through interviews and documentary footage. Stories involved various phenomena such as UFOs, ghosts, psychics, and the like. This series differed from other series of this type in that the evidence from each story was subjected to forensic testing by experts and scientists to try to find the truth. Some of these methods, such as polygraph tests of witnesses, were controversial with viewers. Many felt that the tests did not actually prove or disprove the experiences. Throughout each episode, viewers were asked to guess which one of the stories was positive evidence of the paranormal (or "Proof Positive"). The conclusions were revealed at the end of each episode, with stories being labeled as "negative," "plausible," or "positive."
The show was created for The Sci Fi Channel and was hosted by Amanda Tapping (Stargate SG-1). Only ten episodes were produced and aired. The episodes originally aired from October to December 2004. Repeats are still occasionally shown on the channel.
