Possession is one entity taking over the body of another.

It may be a disembodied intelligence (such as a demon) or a personality leaving one body for another. Possessed victims are unable to control the actions of their bodies.

A fight for control over the body may ensue. As a plot point, the possessed person's personality may briefly gain control and be able to speak. This may occur when something is done that temporarily weakens the possessor.

A third party may attempt to force the possessing entity to leave through a process known as exorcism.
