Episode Guides

Doctor Who lived by its cliffhangers. Stories usually spanned several episodes.

There were 26 classic seasons. The series ran on the BBC from 1963 to 1989, beginning with Doctor Who, Season 1. The deadly Daleks first appeared in Episode 5.

After the 1989 season, the series went on a long hiatus, interrupted only by the appearance of a TV Movie in 1996. When the series resumed in 2005, episode length increased from 23 minutes to 43 minutes, with more self-contained stories.
