Planet of the Apes is a 1974 television series based on the 1968 film Planet of the Apes. The series aired on Fridays on CBS and aired 13 of its filmed 14 episodes before being canceled. The series became available on DVD on October 3, 2006.

It was developed for televsion from the successful movie series by Anthony Wilson, who had been the story editor for Lost in Space.
