Planet of the Apes is a 2001 remake of the classic 1968 film of the same name. Tim Burton directed the film based on the Pierre Boulle novel. Mark Wahlberg stars as astronaut Captain Leo Davidson. Davidson is drawn into a wormhole and lands on a planet where Apes rule and humans are their slaves. Despite high expectations, given Burton's previous accomplishments, reviews from critics were mixed and suggested the remake failed to live up to its predecessor.
