Phyllis Coates <span class="SFPTagline"> From SCIFIPEDIA </span> Phyllis Coates (January 15, 1927 Wichita Falls, Texas - ) is an American actor. Sometimes thought of as the Pete Best of the Adventures of Superman series, Coates portrayed Lois Lane in the first season and then was replaced by Noel Neill (who had played the plucky reporter in the Superman (serial) for the remaining five seasons. Her other genre work includes I Was a Teenage Frankenstein and The Incredible Petrifed World. She also made a special appearance as Ellen Lane in Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman in 1994.
