Peter Weller

Peter Weller (b. June 24, 1947) is an American actor born in Steven's Point, Wisconsin. Weller spent his youth traveling with his father, a helicopter pilot in the US Army. He attended schools in Germany and Texas and went on to attend North Texas State University where he played trumpet in the jazz band. He received his BA in theater and went to the American Academy of Dramatic Arts.

Weller began his career on stage and made his Broadway debut as David in Joseph Papp's production of David Rabe's Sticks and Bones. He also played the role in London. Other stage credits include Full Circle, Summer Brave, and Picnic.

He began appearing in television roles in the 70s. Early roles include The Man Without a Country, The Dancing Princes, Kentucky Woman and the film Shoot the Moon, and Of Unknown Origin. His first scifi appearance was the title role in the short lived The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension. In 1987, he starred in the title role of the film RoboCop he also appeared in the sequel Robocop 2. Other genre appearances include Faerie Tale Theatre, Leviathan, Screamers and Dark Prince: The True Story of Dracula.

In 2002, Weller starred in the short-lived Showtime series Odyssey 5. Other roles include a guest appearance on Enterprise as John Frederick Paxton a recurring role on 24, and the TV Movie The Poseidon Adventure.

Weller attained a Masters Degree in Roman and Renaissance Art and is an occasional guest lecturer at Syracuse University. He has also been a commentator on the History Channel's Rome: Engineering an Empire. He hosts the History Channel series Engineering an Empire.
